The Fair Questions

I have already tried bamboo, muslin and everything labelled hypoallergenic. Why would this be any different?

Because all of those change the fibre, and the fibre is only one of the things touching her. The others are the tag at the neck, the seam ridges running the length of the garment, and the damp a wrap holds against her skin after a sweat or a leak. This swaddle changes those: no sewn-in tags, bonded flat edges instead of stitched ridges, and a knit that moves moisture out instead of holding it flat against her.

Will this fix my baby's eczema?

No. It is a swaddle. What it does is take the garment irritants away from her skin at night — the tag, the ridges, the trapped damp. Whatever else is going on with her skin is between you and her doctor; the swaddle's job is to stop adding to it while she sleeps.

Why is this more than a supermarket 3-pack of muslin wraps?

Honest answer: because of what the construction costs. A muslin wrap is a hemmed square of woven cotton — the cheapest garment there is, and it behaves like it: it pills, it creases into ridges, and it needs re-folding at 3 a.m. with a wriggling baby on the mat. This is a shaped zip garment with bonded edges and nothing sewn inside. You are paying for the ten seconds the zip takes, every night, for months.

Which size, and what if she is between two?

Take the smaller one. A swaddle only does its job snug — loose fabric near a sleeping baby's face is exactly what safe-sleep guidance tells you to avoid. Check her weight against the chart rather than her age; babies outrun their birthdays.

What if it does not work for us?

Synthetic, on a baby? Will she not just sweat in it?

The worry is real because most synthetics do trap heat. This knit is the opposite construction: lightweight, open, and built to move moisture off the skin instead of holding it. Dress her for the room underneath it and skip loose blankets — the same rule as any swaddle.

There is elastane in the knit. Is elastane not an irritant?

It can be, and it would be easy not to mention. It is what lets the swaddle stretch snug and stay put without a single strip of elastic binding. The difference is concentration and placement: no tight band pressing on one line of skin — the stretch is spread across the whole garment.

The wings close with hook-and-loop. Will that scratch her?

The hook side — the scratchy side — faces outward, away from her, and lands on the loop pad, never on skin. Inside the wrap there is only the knit. The zip carries the garment; the wings only set how snug the wrap sits across her chest.

Do the raw laser-cut edges fray or curl after a few washes?

A fair question — a swaddle gets washed more than almost anything you own. The edge is cut by laser, which seals the knit as it cuts; there is no folded hem to unroll and no stitched binding to curl. Cold cycle, no softener, hang to dry, and the edge stays flat.

When do we have to stop swaddling?

The moment she shows the first sign of rolling over — that is the standard safe-sleep line, and it applies to every swaddle, including this one.
